We work with young people with SEND and additional needs in a fully outdoor, small-group environment, using nature, structure and strong relationships to help them re-engage with learning, build confidence and develop life skills.

This isn’t a traditional education role.

🧭 About the role

As a SEND Outdoor Learning Instructor, you’ll support young people through engaging, structured outdoor sessions tailored to their individual needs.

You’ll help learners:

  • Build confidence and resilience
  • Improve social and communication skills
  • Reconnect with education in a safe, supportive environment

You’ll deliver a mix of activities including bushcraft, sports, physical activity and nature-based learning—adapting sessions to suit each group.


🛠️ What you’ll be doing

  • Leading safe, engaging outdoor sessions with clear learning outcomes
  • Supporting young people with SEND, including SEMH and autism
  • Building strong, positive relationships with learners
  • Tracking and celebrating progress in behaviour, wellbeing and development
  • Contributing to simple daily notes and termly reports
  • Working closely with a collaborative team to plan and deliver programmes

✅ What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting young people (SEND experience highly desirable)
  • Confidence leading or supporting outdoor activities
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for making a difference

You’ll also need:

  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle 
  • Willingness to work outdoors year-round

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Forest School / bushcraft qualifications

We’re now looking for a Programme Coordinator to help lead and shape our provision—someone who wants to step into a leadership role while still staying connected to delivery and young people.

🧭 About the role

This is a hybrid leadership role combining:

  • Programme design and coordination
  • Staff support and day-to-day leadership
  • Direct delivery with young people
  • Safeguarding and site oversight

You’ll work closely with senior leadership to ensure programmes are consistent, high-quality and aligned to EHCP outcomes, while supporting staff to deliver their best work.


🛠️ What you’ll be doing

Programme Leadership

  • Coordinate and oversee programmes across multiple sites
  • Ensure sessions are structured, purposeful and aligned to EHCP outcomes
  • Support planning of engaging, outdoor-based learning

Working with Young People

  • Deliver high-quality outdoor sessions when needed
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with learners
  • Support young people with SEND and SEMH needs to engage and progress

Staff Support

  • Act as a key point of contact for Outdoor SEND Workers
  • Provide coaching, guidance and informal supervision
  • Support consistency and confidence across the team

Safeguarding & Operations

  • Act as Deputy DSL (training provided if needed)
  • Maintain strong safeguarding practice and culture
  • Oversee site safety, daily checks and communication

Monitoring & Impact

  • Track and review learner progress and outcomes
  • Contribute to reporting and multi-agency reviews
  • Support continuous improvement of programmes

👥 Who this role is ideal for

This is a great step-up if you are:

  • A senior TA / HLTA / SEND practitioner ready for leadership
  • An experienced outdoor instructor with SEND experience
  • A youth worker or alternative provision practitioner looking to progress
  • Someone already in middle leadership looking for a more meaningful, flexible environment

✅ What you’ll need

  • Strong experience working with young people (SEND / SEMH highly desirable)
  • Good understanding of EHCPs and outcome-based provision
  • Experience supporting behaviour and using trauma-informed approaches
  • Confidence delivering outdoor or practical learning
  • Experience supporting or leading other staff
  • Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills

You’ll also need:

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to work outdoors year-round
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)

🌱 Desirable (not essential)

  • Experience in alternative provision or outdoor education
  • Forest School / bushcraft qualifications
  • Outdoor First Aid
  • Coaching or instructor qualifications (MIAS, Paddle UK, BEL/LLA, etc.)
