Roar Trails is dedicated team of outdoor education professionals specializing in alternative provision, committed to supporting young people who face challenges in mainstream education. With years of experience and a deep understanding of diverse learner needs, we create tailored, nurturing environments that enable every individual to thrive. Our expertise lies in delivering innovative, child-centred programs that foster social and developmental progress, personal growth, and long-term success beyond the classroom.

Our Programmes
Short Term Intervention- KS1-KS2
Roots is our dedicated woodland outdoor learning program designed to support re-engagement for learners who may be either struggling in school, have been excluded or are home schooled. Through woodland activities
the program aims to builds self-esteem, confidence and resilience, develop social skills and promote positive mental and emotional wellbeing. The Roots program further establishes the foundation for our medium-term maintained and longer-term supplemented programs for learners who continue with Roar Trails as part of their broader alternative education provision.
Short Term Intervention KS2-KS4
Discovery is our dedicated foundation program designed to support well-being and promote re-engagement for learners who may be struggling in school, have been excluded or are home schooled. The Discovery program embeds the 5 steps of well-being into an offsite program that includes outdoor adventurous and physical activities, engaging in the local community, being creative and giving back to the community. The Discovery program further establishes the foundation for our medium-term maintained and longer-term supplemented programs for learners who continue with Roar Trails as part of their broader alternative education provision.
Medium Term Maintaining KS2-KS4
Explore is our medium-term program designed to further develop learners’ personal, social, emotional, and mental well-being, with an increased focus on fostering agency through a more learner-led curriculum. Explore is intended for learners who have completed either the Roots or Discovery program and are in a transitional phase before returning to a full-time educational placement or planning to access alternative provisions as part of their long-term supplemented education. Learners who continue with Roar Trails will subsequently advance to our Grow program for those under 16 or our Thrive program for post-16 learners.
Long Term Developmental KS2-KS4
Grow is our long-term program designed to address the ongoing need for enhancing learners’ personal, social, emotional, and mental well-being as part of their broader supplemental education. The program comprises structured sessions that incorporate a personal, social, health, and economic education (PSHE) curriculum, along with learner-focused onsite and offsite activities. Grow is intended for learners who have committed to a long-term plan for supplemental education, where Roar Trails will be part of their broader alternative provision until the age of 16. Subsequently, there is an opportunity to transition to the Thrive program after the age of 16
16+ Mentoring & Life skills
Thrive is our long-term program designed to address the ongoing need for enhancing learners’ personal, social, emotional, and mental well-being for post 16 learners as part of their broader supplemented education. The program comprises structured sessions that incorporate a personal, social, health, and economic education (PSHE), supporting employability skills, along with learner-focused onsite and offsite activities. Thrive is intended for learners who have committed to a long-term plan for supplemental education, where Roar Trails will be part of their broader alternative provision.
